Anyone participating in National Novel Writing Month?
What is your novel about?
I thought we might help motivate each other- post your word count, ask questions to further your story, suggest each other plot ideas or character names, etc.
What do you think?

It seems an excellent idea that I could use if I were writing a novel, but I'm not for now.
However, it can be understandable for short-time members to have skipped this thread after a bit more than a month, but I wonder why the more permanent LitNetters have payed no attention to it.

Decided to write one for the event, well finish a trilogy I had. And I was half way done when my lovely computer crashed with no backup. after this I have no desire to rewrite the 269 pages it took to get there. Hope your writing had better luck

My wife and I both did NaNoWriMo for the first time this year. We both finished and we had a ball.
I described my novel on the site thus: "Job Action" (a euphemism for an unanticipated layoff) is a deadpan comedy about cube dweller Henry. The office cut-up where Henry works (Rigor, Inc) is fired over an insensitive remark. Then the company has to institute diversity training and host a diversity expo, despite being run by ethically-challenged white males. Henry's Eritrean wife Fana works at an African restaurant whose only customers are the agents staking the place out over the owner's shady dealings. When Fana's not-very-athletic brothers visit to run the Boston Marathon, Henry's general obliviousness is sorely tested. But even Rigor seems to be involved in dirty activities, and the fired co-worker is out for revenge. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll bring a rifle to work.
Regards,
Istvan

Sounds like a promising story. Do you plan to publish it?

Yes, I'm planning to rewrite and revise in the hopes of getting published. One of our local NaNo folks is a published author through Random House, and is going to give us tips on the revision process and getting manuscripts out to agents and publishers.
