Like Autumn Leaves Scattered on the Ground
The fallen leaves are skydiving through the emptiness of space,
One last hurrah before they turn to forest carpeting
One wonders if there’s intelligence that makes each one find its place—
Or if random chance places an oak leaf here, a maple there
Colors on the palette, reds and purples, brown and yellow
Make for a delightful decoupage we wade through as we walk
Each sleeping soundly now, curled up against bedfellow
Silence screams volumes in a crunching echo in the woods…
We wonder in the evening beauty what tomorrow may hold,
Will we rain down as leaves do in the autumn air…
Well, we will just have to wait until the end like flower petals unfolds—
But hope that springs within our hearts knows no end at all…
