Disappearing Act

I can't do it.
I can't sit here steeping in my own seven,
An embarrassment to my ancestors,
Those holy ones rooting for me among the clouds,
Saying,
She can do it.
She can redeem us from our past catastrophes,
Scatter her good deeds and healthy choices,
Raise us up to silver linings and gold,
Praying,
Can I do it?
Can I have it all, love and self,
A glossy background to make it all shine,
With constant forgiveness I try but always lose.

I confess to not understanding the reference to "seven" and whatever it is you think you always lose at, it ain't plainspoken, truthful, heartfelt poetry! No way, Josita!

Well, if you could feel how real I'm feeling it, you would cry. I will work on it, my prince. Thank you!! :)

I confess to not understanding the reference to "seven"Seven deadly sins, maybe?

Anyway, I like the piece. Not understanding something usually means it yields more riches with repeat readings.

Not that I really know Ms. Ampoule, but I cannot imagine her being guilty of more than 5 sins, tops.

Within its context "seven" stands out as exactly as those deadly ones we all love to hate and hate to love.

Reads like a heartfelt poem of a very human dilemma.

Good to see you back, Ampoule and in good form!

Ampoule, I have missed your poems. I'm sad that you are sad, but you express it so beautifully and honestly for what it's worth I think you can do it.

Lovely poem, as always.
