This was good. I'd include the ending with the cannabis, it's definetely in order. If you leave it open-ended or incomplete the readers will feel cheated, and rightly so. But you might make one hint, one detail, something quite small mind you, very early in the story, something relating to weed. You'd have to make it small so that it was overlooked on a first reading but lingered in the readers mind so that when you sprung the ending they'd think back," Oh, yes, didn't he mention a crumpled cigarette paper on the floor, or that stained copy of High Times on the counter?" (nothing that gross of course) Something so small it would be overlooked at first reading but not give away the ending. It was an enjoyable read, that's for sure. I thought at first it might be a Halloween story, it was so mysterious. Peace out.
