I wanted to love but could not it seemed
For a Dragon had stolen my heart
Though I wished it so
He would not let it go
And never were they apart
So I cursed the fell beast
And crying havoc released
The howling Dogs of War
But t’was all for naught
For the trail ever hot, led back
To mine own front door
On the porch steps I cried
For I knew that inside
Lay the Dragon and my ill gotten heart
So I knocked on the door
And he queried what for
I wept “should have been yours from the start”
So I sat down beside the beast and listened
To all that could be gleaned
For I’d needed to love but never walked the path
And now sweetly the Dragon dreams
For a Dragon had stolen my heart
Though I wished it so
He would not let it go
And never were they apart
So I cursed the fell beast
And crying havoc released
The howling Dogs of War
But t’was all for naught
For the trail ever hot, led back
To mine own front door
On the porch steps I cried
For I knew that inside
Lay the Dragon and my ill gotten heart
So I knocked on the door
And he queried what for
I wept “should have been yours from the start”
So I sat down beside the beast and listened
To all that could be gleaned
For I’d needed to love but never walked the path
And now sweetly the Dragon dreams
