I Know! I Know! I Know!

I know, I know, I know!
the cries seem to carry
within the wind which wraps
around me, while I am left
upon my knees
watching the blood
stained dark rust red
upon my hands

Like the beating
of the heart
beneath the floorboards
it seems inevitable
that no secret
of this heinous act
can exist.

I know, I know, I know!
cries the waters
as I try
to scrub myself clean
but ever how much I wash
there the red still lingers
as Macbeth cries
OUT! OUT! OUT!
there is no out
from this.

I know, I know, I know!
cries the grains
beneath my feet
where I tread
and I stand naked
casting aside my garments
to seek some purity
but where can it be found
when all eyes accuse me.

I know, I know, I know!
I cry on endless
sleepless nights
when I know
yes I know
I know
the only thing left
to be done
the only act
which will free me.

I know, I know, I know!
is the last whisper
of the noose
as it for once
hushes the voice
like the furies
which ever
haunted me.

Oh how I feel your despair.

Oh how I wish I could write like you!

Your poems are very mysterious, dark and something that are layered within us. Enigmatic expression!

I always love reading your stuff Dark Muse; you definitely have a voice that's all yours and I love the structure of this one. Only complaint; it was actually Lady Macbeth that said that, but you probably know that. ;)

Thank you very much.

Hehe I just liked the sound and effect better of dropping out the "Lady"

It is hard to ignore the brilliance remaining in the other stanzas, but I particularly liked:

"I know, I know, I know!
is the last whisper
of the noose
as it for once
hushes the voice
like the furies
which ever
haunted me. "

LOVE IT. You have a devastatingly beautiful voice, Dark Muse.

That repeating line makes the poem sing with sorrow, and how I feel the weight of that noose myself these days... Powerful stuff, Muse

"as Macbeth cries OUT! OUT! OUT! there is no out from this." that was particularly memorable. perhaps the 'cries' should be singular? i was reminded of 'i know what you did last summer'... lol. the last stanza was vivid.
