Hi guys. I'm a young writer from Turkey, Istanbul. I usually write my stories in Turkish, of course, but this time I made a change and translated into the English one of my short stories.

I often write novellas but when I decided to choose a story for translation, I chose the shortest.

I didn't write a story that shorter than "To Destroy Darkness" (we can say storiette, actually) and probably I won't.

I hope you'd enjoy.

Here is the story...

TO DESTROY DARKNESS

In the sunset, in the desperation, he came. His body was brighter than silver, his words were sweeter than a candy; his eyes were sharper than an eagle’s… As if he has come from the heart of the light.

“You must not be imprisoned by the dark,” he said. “And you must not be wrapped by the evil. Do not be hostile to each other; if you are, you would have no difference from a corpse. Do not make this mistake.”

Everybody was listening carefully to what he was saying; then, an eternal silence dominated everywhere. Eventually, “Here is the Savior!” an itty-bitty man said. And thousands of people -even slaves as servants of the dark- repeated that.

But Savior was just smiling, his teeth were radiant; thus, collapsing darkness was destroyed by him. “You will save yourself,” he said.

This time, not even thousands but millions exclaimed that: “We will.”

He rose into the air and turned into a pigeon. Even so he was radiant and most impressive side of that, he was floating in the sky like an angel. But all good things must come to an end. He got away and hived off in the end. Desperate eyes looked into the sky but they saw nothing except the gorgeous blue.

Although Savior left there, hope was not end. Darkness disappeared and everybody smiled enthusiastically. Things they feel were different now.
“We saved ourselves,” a woman whispered.

And not even millions but billions exclaimed that.
