Did I mention Idiots? So I have multiple pictures of my beautiful five year old gelding paint, Moondance. my abused rescue. It's time for him to move on to a new home as He is safe now for any advanced rider or just to be a grooming horse. However I was riding him down a trail trying to get him to adjust to something new, getting him some out of the arena experience. And I have you know three four wheelers come up behind us and lay on the horn... not just a quick honk (Equaly stupid) Well needless to say Dancer Threw me, I nmentioned the abused part right? He is super skittish and you don't expect a horn honking in the middle of the effin woods. But he throws me I hit a tree, ouch, he kicks the four wheeler it flips (Don't honk at something bigger than you) Ends up biting the kid and kicking him guy shot at him with a bb gun, he charged him trampled him and ran off. I finaly caught him about three hours later, he tore two tendons in his legs, got caught in barbed wire he tried to run though. So after the vet bill not to mention my doctor bill for medication cause the tree broke ribs, not bad but it was broke off and the wood splinters pierced my back. But to top it all off me pissed off about the idiot hurting my horse, he has the balls to send his parents to come try to bring me the bill for his hospitle and 4wheeler repair the other idiots where smart and road away. but he ended up with a broken arm, leg and a slipped disk in his back. His little four wheeler has busted siding and some other crap it all ended up close to 4grand. ours was around 800 for dancer plus the time and care it will take and starting over on his training, and Idk what my medical was. But it ended up with me hitting the guys parents grabbing a gun and daring them not to get off my land before I pulled the trigger. Funny when staring down a 500 desert eagle and a pissed off chick in pain, white people really can run  Reallly they made it back to the truck and to the end of the road in under a minute :D But anyway the point here is, even well trained horses dont appreciate it if you honk, and since you don't know the horse, you don't know if its the first time they are under saddle. SO DONT EFFIN HONK!!!! AND IF THEY ARE ON A HORSE THEY ARE PROBABLY COUNTRY, IF YOU ARE IN TEXAS THEY PROBABLY HAVE A BIG GUN!!!

This tops any of my rants that I repressed since summer, but neither Admin nor the moderators have read me really going off.

I hope the horse recovers; when I was a child my mother purchased a lead stallion and made me ride him to stretch my hips. Finding a board that will let you use ef and other choice profanity might help too. TNR lets you as long as you aren't flaming the other idiots who happen to think you're an idiot too ;)

I can't stand it when people aren't sensitive to animals. When I'm walking with my dogs and know I might meet up with horses I make sure the dogs are close and hold them when the horse goes by because they bark a lot. I have neighbours who tease my dogs and it's very annoying, even adults can act like idiots towards animals.

sorry for what happened but I would like to know how it goes with that poor horse. and you of course.

There's a law on the books in my state that says you must not spook a horse on the road, but if you do you must stop and calm it. That aside, it sounds like what this kid did was criminal. I'm glad you're not seriously hurt.

Wow, I can not believe they had the guts to come and try to give you THEIR bills!!!

I have seen some horrible, horrible accidents happen with vehicles and horses, so I try to avoid the road, but you weren't even on the road!

I am so sorry, Steph, I would be taking this to court, depending on what your state's laws are.

In Britain a major part of the driving test theory-stuff is how to behave around a horse. Approach slowly, don't rev your engine, overtake only when you have a wide bearth and a long bit of straight road, and NEVER use your horn. We get plenty of riders on the road where I come from, and they always seem very considerate; if they can, they take the horses into a lay-by so we can pass, and if that means I have to patiently follow them for a while, then so be it.

Although I'm not sure I approve of waving a gun at that them, I fully understand your irritation. They're just being ignorant.

True True. Back to the vet today. Gave him a bath of sorts to get the flys away from the dried blood. im ok. We where on the trail, but when you ride on the road if a car comes you just hit the side of the road, tighten your reins and stop so if he spooks you are in better controll. And LOKA its a texas thing lol. We all got big guns. :) too bad the idiots dont have commen since. I couldnt shoot the thing it would break both my wrist. but they got the point. :) I believe 10% of Texas has a gone the rest have more lol.

That's terrible Steph! People have NO clue whatsoever when it comes to diving close to horses! It's completely ridiculous! It's COMMON SENSE people! Spooky animal + big loud vehicle = DANGER.

It's called thinking. I wish people would try it sometime.

Glad you're okay, and good luck taking care of your pony!

I am glad you two are doing well. that poor horse. I was once helping my friend who had a horse that had been seriously abused and was so thin when they got him, he got so scared if you just came close to him. I spent one evening in the stable with the horse next to him and by the end I could pet him a little but it took a long time for them to help this poor guy.

People can be idiots when it comes to animals.

wish they would learn commen sence..Your tale seems to indicate that common sense is not all that common. By the sound of things that moron must be an accident waiting for a place to happen. What he did just could not end well, and I'm just glad that it did not end any worse. There is no way a horse could perceive that kind of carry-on as anything but an attack... with predictable results.

I'm glad you're ok.

What nimrods, I'm glad they got hurt. I had a rescue horse myself and I know how much anger can be put in you when something like that happens. As long as your horse and yourself are ok thats all that matters. If those kids come back, hit me up I'll come out and drop kick 'em lol.
