View Full Version : What is "sexy" for you?

I was wonder what other people think about the word "sexy" and to what would you apply it? And what do you think when a person says "I feel sexy today", what kind of meaning is that one to you? And what about those people that dress in a way that they show too much for feel sexy?

whats sexy to me? good question. not really sure. I look at John Barrowman or Joseph Fiennes and go "now thats a sexy man." but why i think it i'm not sure....

Well, 'sexy for me' is a little deeper than wearing some slinky little outfit. It is more of the person you love, loves you and is as attracted to you in a sexy way as you are to them. To me that is sexy. I cannot feel sexy for someone, if I do not know my sexy opposite. That is my opinion... However I'm sure others will re-quote me, on that.

I use the word sexy to describe things that are similar to sex.
For example: I like the way he put his bread into the toaster. It was pretty sexy.

Ok, I can see your perspective on what is sexy... But I don't feel that Nyu001 was referring to items as such. I think he may have been referring to people in general. Say for argument sake - "that man has a sexy body" or "that woman is wearing a sexy outfit." Well that is the way I interperated the thread, anyway.

Superficially? Long-haired girls.
Frankly speaking, though, the term sexy is not exactly one of my favorites, coz I hate to label someone as sexy. It's declassifying them into sexual objects alone.
Maryd.

Yes Pryderi... I will agree with you on that one. 'Tis a tad degrading.

I don't think I ever use that word except when I'm daydreaming about Zachary Quinto......
I don't think it's sexy when girls dress to show off their breasts or anything like that, I never dress to show my body I dress to keep warm. there is nothing to show anyway.
if someone said to me 'I feel sexy today' I would find it unattractive! and rather stupid, I'd like it if the person said ' I feel confident today'

I suppose feeling sexy and feeling confident go hand in hand. My confidence level increases when someone that I am attracted to wants to be with me.
As far as the type of clothing that women often wear when they feel sexy; I find that men are not always interested in (except the way it makes the woman feel)
I like clothing that feels nice against the skin: silk, synthetic fur, flannel...
I think young women often wear clothing that shows alot of skin because they see it on television or in magazines; but for some reason, while britney or angelina can show their midriff on tv, it doesn't always look good in the grocery store. I find that with older women, we don't see ourselves in the mirror the way others see us; so we often dress a decade younger than we should. I occasionally get a picture of myself so I can go Ahhhhhhh!

feeling sexy is natural, not naughty. feeling sexy isn't dirty, it is real, it is hormones, it is comfortable, or should be when we wear it. Yes, I said, "wear it", because other people, ourselves included, can sense it, see it, feel it while in the presence of someone who feels "sexy". Sexy is empowering for men and women alike and it should be. It is no crime.
What do I really think is sexy? A happy smiling woman of any stripe. Ya gotta love it.!

I agree with baddad in considering it more as a matter of confidence and being comfortable with oneself. There's nothing "sexier" than a great attitude.

Does anyone really believe such drivel? This is the sort of politically-correct nonsense one repeatedly hears in certain camps when one wishes to appear "sensitive". (That oughta get this discussion rolling:D) Whether we like it or not we are driven by biology and sexual urges are among the strongest of these. My wife would be more than disappointed if I didn't find her sexy. Indeed... I'd be sleeping on the couch.
Beyond the wife... well I find Anna Netrebko incredibly sexy:
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3454/4003053372_dd5d403a34_o.jpg
There is certainly something to be said for stunning good looks, confidence, and the talent worthy of it all:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwuNqcKUxto&feature=related
What is more than disturbing are the sort of hateful comments Netrebko and other performers get on these YouTube postings.
Great to see you, baddad! As I rarely use them, this calls for dancing bananas:
Having read the OP and no other posts, here is what I have found to be extremely 'sexy:' a girl I almost had a dating relationship said it best "I feel the sexiest with the right balance of hard work look and a little bit of smell-good." Which was true- the days I thought she was the sexiest were the days she was dusty and sweaty, but with just a touch of perfume left over.
I guess that would be considered 'fashionably dirty.'
Showing too much to be considered sexy, well, I'm going to look at a girl that shows too much, but I won't be looking because I find it sexy. I am A) oggling at the sights to be seen and B) wondering how horribly insecure said person is.

Sexy is a combination of time, place, and person/thing. For example, large shiny belt buckle not sexy (for me at least) however a large shiny belt buckle on a cowboy that just called me darlin - sexy.

see i've had a convo along similar lines with my friends over the years about Scotsmen. The idea of a man in a skirt is totally wrong.... but make it a kilt and throw in a Scottish accent and... oh yeah! Totally sexy.

Rod Stewart was sexy.
I like a man with a hammer in his hand. Not a construction worker, but a man trying to problem solve how he's going to build something with his hands. That is sexy! Spatial visual thinking is sexy...

I could so easily try to turn this thread into a BDSM discussion, but I promised the moderators I'd be good when they let me in.
In my vanilla moments, I find the intimacy I have with my girlfriend and the affection we often show each other to be LITERALLY sexy, if you know what I mean. But even that is somewhat kinky, no? I guess there's no hope for me.
Best regards,
Chris

Good taste stlukesguild. We are not talking here about some intellectual, spiritual plane to be attained on the concept of sexuality. You are either comfortable around women or not & the greatest strength of any woman lies in her vunerability. That is sexy!
Boobs, butts, brains are mere appendages. Try " A Hero of Our Time" by Mikhail Lermontov to help understand.

I'm staying out of this one. I have trained myself to consider all ladies beautiful (with the occasional acception and I have to be provoked to wrath but it has happened) or else I would probably go on about a certain well thought of moderator who really should consider banning me every now and again.

The moderators will recognise the purity of your honest opinions if the response on this potentially hazardous subject is: veiled in the obscurity of a learned language, cloaked in a potage of literary illusions, buried in the subtifuge of an attained classical education & you throw in a few references to tomes by eminent authors of a staid reputation.

well, what's sexy for me at a man is passion.
how can you resist when someone is talking about their fav movie, dream job, point of view and gets so into it.
I just love that, I love a man with opinion
oh, and I always go for the "bad boy" :(, there's a problem there
but sexy can be everything, mostly attitude.
Helen of Sparta wasn't just some beautiful chick, if she was just that, she wouldn't cause all that mess. She had confidence, charisma and knew how to make things work for her.
and that's it! It goes both ways, confident, charismatic, passionate people are sexy, no mater male of female.

it's all about confidence. For example, my 18 year old brother went cruising the beach wearing his dark brown vans and brown socks with his swimming trunks. His flip flops broke. He looked like an old man, but he said, "it's all about confidence." He didn't come back with any girls though...
I can't say that there is any one thing that I find consistently sexy. It's just one of those "know it when you see it" kind of things. Or rather, it's a "know it when you sense it" thing. It's a combination of facial features, physicality, intelligence, confidence and some unseen energies that do it for me.
I do have a list of things that are consistently NEVER sexy (on men):
1) flat-billed caps
2) meanness
3) stupid looking facial hair to include grotesquely overgroomed or undergroomed mustaches. and mustaches in general...he better be super intelligent or super good looking for me to be able to see past a mustache sans beard. :cold:
4) poofy styled hair
5) visors.
6) basketball jerseys worn somewhere other than a basketball court...
7) obviously waxed/shaped eyebrows
8) tight-tapered jeans.
9) self-absorption

Well put docheart... I'm speechless.:smash:
I think "sexy" would be someone who knows how to put a spell on you, be it through speaking, attitude, or physical traits.
There are actually some other characteristics you can't categorize, such as the voice, the tone, and so on...
But still, this is my opinion, which no one doesn't have to feel the same about. ;)

I dig hard workers. I always look for rough hands. There's also a lot to how someone smells. The kind of person that I like smells a bit like sawdust, sweat, tanned leather, campfire smoke and the sun (and depending on the day and time, beer).
Kindness is huge with me. One time I saw a guy being really sweet to this poor old busdriver who was kinda mean, and just by treating him decently this guy changed the busdriver's whole attitude. I thought that I was in love. Another time (just recently) a kid fell down in the video store where I work right in front of my till and started bawling. This teenager who was standing with his friends came over and he was so nice to her. You wouldn't expect a teenage boy to break from his friends to comfort a little girl. Give that kid another five years or so, and he'd be just perfect.
There's something else too, it's sort of a "genuine" quality that's hard to define. I don't know, I guess it's sort of people who have a certain life philosophy that I'm attracted to.
Arbitrary physical preference: longish shaggy brown hair (not too long, though). Like this:

In fact I am really choosy and few can woo me and most turn up unsexy. What really beguiles me is her demeanor, the way she appears to me, not the way she is, but the way she use an art. Nothing in raw nature is engaging, but something spiced up or flavored it becomes irresistible. Body matters second to performance, and many beauties fail as real temptresses and some with so so facial appearance become arresting. Sex starts in your brains and pass to you, to your genitals through nerves and cultivate it in your brain and the rest works for you
