My ex had his portable Walkman CD Player stolen during the relocation, and I am buying him a new one because I am gunning for beautification from the Pope.:rage:

Now he says that what he wants is a portable DVD player rather than the CD.

Before he comes over tomorrow and we get into a fight, isn't the DVD primarily for movies, and if he listens incessantly to his music with his headphones tuning me out, isn't the CD/MP3 combo Walkman what he wants to wear on his belt?

I am confused because I have used CD-ROM for computer gaming. I was focusing on the Sony Walkman models, if that would give any of you an idea.

 Well, if he were my ex, I would give him a good swift kick out the door; and I would be paranoid enough to think he had managed to get a deal on an Mp3 or some like object.
I personally like the portable Dvd players, you can set them up almost anywhere, watch movies and ripped videos, and they have their own charger (every guy in the hurricane states want them)

music, sometimes what one has is better than being entirely alone, and I am not one of Ashton's model's on the rapidly canceled TBL, but leaving that there, he wants a portable non-ipod device, and all the DVD players I see look like smaller versions of my notebook. I really could use some help; he is in his 60's and I used to consider myself successful if I got my EJ cd's in and out of my player without discord. I am doing this for him because, that's all.

This smells as though he smells your generosity and he's trying to get a portable DVD player out of it. I think you shouldn't buy him anything, but if you choose to do so, buy him the cheapest you can find.

While DVDs are primarily for movies due to their higher storage capacity, they can also hold music and your ex could easily carry in one DVD what would normally take from five to six CDs, so the man must be trying to reduce his payload. As I suggested before, I think he's trying to pull your leg.

I just looked at a few DVD players online and the ones I saw can play audio CD's, soo if I had to choose I'd choose the DVD player too only because one can do more with it.

We have a nice 6.5" slim design portable dvd player with really great sound; we used it only once during a hurricane. I suppose, really, it probably does sound better than most of the portable sound devices around; and if your friend is 60, he may not like the earpieces and such. Our dvd player was $150. almost 5 years ago; I don't know how that compares with other devices now. I hope I'm not being nosy; but are you hoping to get back together? I would really question if he had lost his other device. I am surprised how many older men still act like gigelos. Anyway, good luck. I hope your next love will be someone who deserves your wonderful kindness.

It was resolved without bloodshed, thanks, and yes, he is a sort of Vincent Price playboy for the poor, but the disabled suffer a lot of discrimination in these section 202's, and he doesn't have much, so this I don't mind; these days you need a PhD in gadgets just to get by. It's frustrating.

Sooooo, what'd he end up with? What difference does it make?

He has lost Jozzy. No electronic device will compensate for that...

(At least the ones I am familiar with :D)

Sooooo, what'd he end up with?

We don't know yet; we are going to get it offline tomorrow so I can stop going crazy:eek2:. He does syphon off other people. I suppose it is how he was raised, but he does help me too; he put my flat screen together when it came in even though I get semi-hysterical if I can't get it to work in less than 5 minutes, and my aunt is mad because I didn't marry him, as she was planning the wedding, but we're not scripting Jerry Springer, so let me shush.

We both have dvd players for the flatscreens, but I need a tech to rewire me when I can breathe. I will be honest though: I wasted my money on mine, and I am not sure how badly the movers hurt it. I cannot use the sound system in this studio; the walls are all paste and it is majority population senior citizens here, hence the tension, they patronize the well behaved cripples and hate those like me; they think I'm a radical and would get rid of all of us if they could. Gotta love HUD, and when I had power, even HUD said I had a point about forcing the two populations to live with each other, but that is HUD, and another topic.

Papay, since you were curious, he picked the exact DF model I was going to get him, at a 20% higher mark-up, but Sony's website had it out of stock ; but it is finished now.
