“but if you could, do you think you would trade it all - all the pain and suffering?
Ah, but then you`d miss the beauty of the light upon this earth and the,
and the sweetness of the leaving”*

Music because I Can’t Title This

Don’t be afraid of the dark or
your diaphragm when it opens wide to find
the edges of your audible gullible heart

that place where you touch your texture,
stare down the anxious staring back at you
before your wakening

like the part in Butterfly’s aria that stops you.
No matter where you are or what you’re doing
you stop.

The world stops and, there is only
your wounded hands storming the air
in that moment ....
go with her.

Wow, lost in it, wild. :) Every time I read this I'm getting more. Will come back to it later, it's a rich one.

Love the sound of the 'audible gullible heart' and the stopping point.

Thanks Silas! So glad you like it! I think that pretty well describes the heart.

This is lovely Sophia. I especially enjoyed these parts:

Don’t be afraid of the dark or
your diaphragm when it opens wide to find
the edges of your audible gullible heart

(Poor gullible heart, aren't we all.)

The world stops and, there is only
your wounded hands storming the air
in that moment ....
go with her.

Especially the ending. I like the stopping, the pause before the realisation of something beautiful. Life strikes that way sometimes, and when it does it is amazing. Nicely done :)

There are a couple of places in this that rise even above the beauty and passion of the rest:

that place where you touch your texture,
stare down the anxious staring back at you
before your wakening

and

The world stops and, there is only
your wounded hands storming the air
in that moment ....

So many good images that I cannot pick a favorite... One of the best for you, I believe!

Thanks everyone. The other day I was grocery shopping and had my ipod with me and Maria Calla singing Un bel di from Madame Butterfly was in the shuffle.

Right there, in the middle of the store, when she hit that one note I just stopped and it seemed that everything stopped. My arm involuntarily shot up into the air as if I was conducting and to my surprise, I was crying.

Afterwards, I realized the same thing happens each and every time I hear it. No matter where I am or what I'm doing, for one moment, I just stop ...

I have this glorious photo on the wall just above the monitor of my computer: one of my grand-daughters, in profile, her face split wide open in glee as her father, off-camera, evidently fans wind into her face with a book. The Un bel di moment is signified by her hands which are thrown up involuntarily to either side of her face in the sheer, irresistible joy of that moment

I agree, very good work Sophia. I really really like that opening stanza. :)

It wasn't exactly glee I was writing about in this case Prince but, I totally get what you are saying. It's those moments ... pure happy or sad and unbiddable
