or so they say. How organized are you guys? Me - not so much, or at least at home I'm not organized but at work I do fairly well.

I buy one of those day keeper things every year and by January 10th it's in the bottom drawer collecting dust.

I got to thinking about this after catching a show on TV *gasp*, yes TV about hoarders. Not that hoarding an organization are directly related.

Anyways how organized are you?

Horribly disorganized... oh well.

My personal belief is that if everything is on the floor, then by definition I know where everything is! It's a system that's worked for many years.

I ticked "I made a list, once" but I admit I make lists regularly. At least once every two weeks, sometimes more often. The big BUT here is: I never manage to keep with them. It's impossible!

I try to set "mini" tasks for myself daily and reward myself for completing those. Eg, "I won't check the Forum until the laundry is sorted out" etc.

It helps me remain focused and get things done.

I don't file or categorize anything, but I know where everything is.

I put myself at the "I could be better" range. My desk is never that clean, and I periodically lose something important, but I do try, God knows, I do try.

I'm all or nothing. Right now with the many demands I face during school it's bad, but about 32 weeks a year I'm great. My desk is so bad I'm working at my husband's desk. Normally I have to run a tight ship to stay afloat and keep up with everyone's everything. I'm just telling myself how much better it will be in just nine more weeks.

I am awful, just awful at organization. Always have, always will be. I am so irresponsible with so many things around the house, that it's embarrassing

On the absolute flip side, I am extremely meticulous about the kitchen. When washing dishes, I make sure that every single little spot is scrubbed to perfection.

I feel exactly the same way. Whenever my step-mom reoragizes the bathroom cabinets, I can't find anything for the life of me.

My room is too often a mess, but I can never find my things when I've just cleaned... Books, papers and clothes and little things just pile up so easily on my table and chairs. Cant help it, really :D

But I'm usually always on time everywhere and never miss any important deadlines. No, it's not because of my awesome memory (I have a good memory and I remember a lot of useless information, but can't trust myself to remember to do my homework on time or even to watch any tv-programmes if I'm not reminded of them... A good thing I can nowadays record those on my parents' digibox :D). My secret weapon is my cell phone  The problem with normal calendars is that I hardly ever remember to check later what I've written (I have a bad habit of filling my calendar only after something's happened, so it's more like a journal than a real calendar), but my cell phone's calendar will remind me to look what I'm supposed to remember :D

I'm a total hoarder. not a good organiser at all.

The secret for me is to keep one diary and only one, everything goes into one book and the book lies open on the kitchen table, the hub of my universe - sad, I know, but I've always had a desk and now I've retired, I miss it, so the kitchen table has filled the gap in my life. I don't buy pre-printed diaries, (I don't need to know the phone numbers of all the world's major airports, what's the internet for?) I buy an A5 notebook, rule up the right hand pages only, page to a week, leave the left hand page empty for notes, recipes, addresses, book titles etc, etc, write in birthdays and anniversaries and hi-light them at the beginning of the year - OK, it takes time but it saves me time throughout the year and time is what I have quite a bit of nowadays. The system works on the whole - it falls apart if I close up the book in a (rare) attempt at tidying up.

As for hoarding, I'm toying with the idea of moving - 'down-sizing' as the fashionable phrase has it - so the steeliness of my resolve to de-clutter will be well and truly tested. What I really need is a bungalow the same size as my present house so I can take all the books with me..... Surely I can get rid of some of them?

I have a diary in my bag, I often write in it, but don't check any dates so I usually don't do things according to plan. my bookshelf is very organized, my bedroom not so much. I'm trying to be more organized because I need to be to be able to finish everything I have to do for school and do everything I need to for the house and my boys, who demand a lot of attention.

oh, I'm trying a notebook. I find that if I keep it open on my desk I can keep up with it. So far I've had it since June 30th.

I'm terribly disorganized and messy. I've gotten better this year since I got a planner with a page per day and forced myself to use it, but I still slip into bad habits.

I always have the list of tasks safely kept inside my head
Too bad i always remember half of them. Then i started writing everything down. So my desk is full of little scraps of paper, which i have a tendency to either lose, recycle or misplace :goof:

oh i know all about the scrap paper thing. my worst fault with it is writing down telephone no's. i nearly always forget to write the name and end up finding tons of scraps of paper with notes and no's in my intray and cant figure out who or what they relate to and end up binning them. :p

My desk / drawer / closet can be compared to that of a wasteland. Paint brushes everywhere, pieces of papers, books, newspaper excerpts, etc.
On the contrary, I am extremely meticulous with legal documents, bank details, acad certificates and receipts of every single thing I have purchased (yeah, I keep them ).

I should do the same, but my addiction to the forum and to other sites prevents me from taking the right path :(

My desk isn't either.

The story of my life, including my kitchen life! :D

At least you don't have your mom ranting about it at a rate of a hundred rants per day, like I DO

In my case favorite TV Shows come first; homework can wait  And built-in cellphone agendas are better, I think, because one can't stop looking at the cell's screen about once per minute :p

An exquisite combination of the three makes a typical day of mine, except that I often throw receipts to the garbage can. The rest I keep :D

But really, where is my laptop?

I'm ridiculously organized. I like lists, and compartmentalizing, and neatness. Which is strange, because I'm also a procrastinator haha. I would have picked the Meticulous option, but I think the putting things off bumps me down a notch. :p

Unless it's too ordered. Then you get trapped by it.
