If you're talking about philosophical fiction, then that's something that's quite old and has been around forever. Actually, basically all writings are philosophical in one way or another.

Sartre and Nietzsche are examples of great philosophers who wrote down their philosophies through fiction. Both excellent authors. I wouldn't say it's a new genre at all.

Of course Leo Tolstoy is a writer whose novels characterize fusions of philosophy and fiction and no goes unlearned or untaught once he goes through his masterpieces like Resurrection, War and Peace.

Another great writer of note today is Dostoevsky whose books are really great philosophical treatises and he too was unbearable in point of fact, a matchless writer.

In fact all great fictions are suffused with philosophies.

Now (a bit more) serious: Most literary fiction is pretty philosophical. The classics are philosophical. And yeah, Dostoevsky is probably the master in that field, but there are others.
