It's driving me crazy,
I can remember reading a quote I really loved in "On The Road" about how everything that connects us in life is invisible and he uses the analogy of phone lines.
I can't remember the actual quote and I can't remember when abouts in the book it was so I can't find it.
Can anyone help, pleeeease!

Sorry, I just finished reading it and I can't help you. I really didn't care for the book and did a little page turning when I should have been reading... confession...

You might have some luck with SparkNotes on line. They have a quote link that may hit on what you are looking for.

Good luck.

I told Dean that the thing that bound us all together in this world was invisible, and to prove it pointed to long lines of telephone poles that curved off out of sight over the bend of a hundred miles of salt.

Just a guess.
