My very lovely neighbours have invited us to an Eid lunch on Saturday and I'd really like to take along a gift to say thank you for including us in their festival, but being hopelessly ignorant I have no idea what would be appropriate. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas for what might be a suitable gift?
Thank you kindly :)

Eid lunch next saterday? But eid will definatly be finished by then...oh well, maybe the had eid on monday and so are celbrating at the weekend
Sweets and choclates are acceptable ( and good) food is very much the gift of choice when visiting, among arabs anyway, at eid. If you go for sweets though Id make sure they are suitale for veggies and alchol free to ensure halal-ness . I once got given a beautiful box of expensive liquer choclates I couldn't eat because of the alchol ,although obviously I didnt say anything.
I think that woulf be good, but I will think and ask the rest of the family nd see if they ome up with better ideas? :D

Thanks Nightie :D
I don't know why they're having it on Saturday, perhaps it is merely an opportunity for a social gathering in the neighbourhood. Anyway, it's very nice of them all the same. They're not Arabs, they're Malaysian if that makes any difference. Chocolates are a good idea. Gives me an excuse to visit Hotel Chocolate and do some sampling ;)
