Clearer the Clouds

Gone be the rain and the sadness it brings,
Let me kiss the sweet sunset again—
Learning to deal with the complexity of things,
These are struggles that polish this man…
Without the fire gold will not be refined,
Without pain we would not appreciate relief—
The rain makes the grass grow greener each time
Suffering brings such sweet release…
I will chase the rainbows after every storm,
Greet each morning with songs sung in praise
Even though it seems darkness shall be the new norm
The sun peers through each moment of rain…
To face every heartache with neither melancholy nor fear,
To French-kiss every sunrise and be glad I’m still here…

I gagged a bit at the thought of having to swallow (figuratively speaking) that "Frech-kiss" but my prudishness aside, it seems much too literal an image among the more poetic tropes of rain, sadness &c

Ah, well, seemed a good image at the time...

I found it beautiful, if the pacing was odd at times. *polite applause*

I immediately though of Longfellow's The Rainy Day when I read the first line.

I liked the image of hope and faith that this line provided:
"I will chase the rainbows after every storm,"
