The Sound of Absence

The sound of music falls
making everything
seem somehow
all the more empty.

Each dilapidated note
only serves a
reminder for the
true silence in the room.

Broken laughter
memories caught in cobwebs
and falling in the dust.

A piano better left in silence
than to hear it ring
in echoes of all
which is not there.

Pale foreign hands
touching the keys
in a stolen moment.

Music played for the dead
becomes as frozen faces
in yellow edged photographs.

Lost to time
leaving behind only impressions
which further increase
their abstraction.

So smooth and flowing! It is able to denote an atmosphere without being lavish or superflorous.

I must admit, from the poems of yours I've read, I've felt a great poetic connection.

mmmmmmmm...beautiful..!It reminds me of the Moonlight Sonata by Giannis Ritsos. There's the same hyperromantic feeling of loss and aging and death.Beautiful.

DM, the imageries that you've portrayed in your poem are unusual! Keep up your good work! :thumbs_up
