This is ridiculous to say that our relationship with God is that of a slave with his master. That is exactly what I feel everywhere when people demean themselves so low that they are totally subservient to God. Of course God maybe or my not be the creator of everything that is a separate issue. But this relationship man has established with God is really debasing in point of fact and man has lowered his position to the extent he should not be lowered.

In the Gita there is a word Shakha Bhawa, that is, relationship here between God and man is not one of slavery but of camaraderie and amity. Both treat each other on an equal footing, not as a slave and master. We are in fact from God, if you really believe in God, and since we come from God how can we be slaves. Does father call his sons slaves? I do not agree at all. We are at one with God, and any duality between God and man is just an illusion at all.

Man chooses to have a master just because he is afraid of the unknown, and he believes that he will be saved all the time. God must be kind and compassionate and not an unruly dictator in an authoritarian state. He is a loving father and tenders love to his offspring.

Let us pray and praise his acts or deeds but not as a slave but as a company. In most religions God is wrathful and revengeful. And people worship out of fear. Even in Hinduism there is a lurking fear amongst some Hindus that some Gods are innately furious and some sacrificial functions must be performed and worship carried out to the extent of sacrificing human flesh to God at regular intervals to keep God quiet and calm. Sacrificing animals at shrines and temples is too common.

But later on Hinduism has undergone some evolutions and people gradually started believing that God is a company. This evolved mindset engenders a different attitude to God, not as a slave – master relationship.
