Nietzsche

Hello, my name is Brandon. I'm in college and I intend to be a college professor of German. My interests include linguistics (particularly of the Germanic language family) , philosophy, religious history, rhetoric, and reading. I suppose you could call me a philologist. I love the German language, i've developed a real passion for it over the past few years.
My favorite fictional author, for the time being, is Dan Brown (and yes, I am aware that he is not the first person to author religious conspiracy books, and that there are other authors with deeper writing and so forth, but I read his books for entertainment not intellectual enlightenment. He's entertaining and appeals to my interests.) Other than that, I am a big read of philosophy. I am quite a fan of Friedrich Nietzsche, as my use name suggests, but I enjoy existential philosophy in general. The Tao Te Ching I am particularly fond of, recently i've become more interested in eastern thought (it has had quite an influence on European existentialism). Other authors and book subjects I enjoy are Franz Kafka, Norse/Germanic sagas and poems (Beowulf, Erik the Red, Das Nibelungenlied etc), Edgar Allan Poe, German Poetry, Old & Middle English literary works, and a good read on linguistics and also the Pop Culture and Philosophy series of books (some of them, if I am interested in the show or movie). I enjoy reading about Nikola Tesla as well, and I recommend the books he has written to anyone.
I enjoy having civilized discussions over philosophical issues ( I don't really care for religious discussions, people just believe what they want typically regardless if there is proof against they believe or not, so I just avoid it :brickwall )
