I'm coming to the end of a long road trip round the USA and will be flying home from New York on the 28th of this month. At the moment I'm in Buffalo to see Niagara falls and plan to get to New York on the 20th, leaving the twelve days between now and then free to explore the area. I plan to spend 3 or 4 nights in Boston to see the city, but wonder if anyone can recommend things worth seeing in the rest of New York state or Vermont? I've been told both are stunning in the fall, but don't really know where to go! I have a car for getting about and a tent to keep accommodation cheap if that helps...
