I have something of a fascination with New Orleans. I find the culture and history of New Orleans intriguing and I love the whole bayou setting. Admittedly my interest in New Orleans was sparked by two particular things, the voodoo subculture of New Orleans, and Anne Rice as much of her Vampire Chronicles are set in New Orleans as well as a couple of her other books, being that is where she lived.

When I started reading Kate Chopin I was quite excited to discover most of her stories are set in New Orleans and it made me want to read everything she wrote, and I recently started reading A Confederacy of Dunces and was excited on discovering it takes place in New Orleans.

So I am interested in any good books that are set in New Orleans, I would most particularly be interesting in books set around the 1800's and books that do revolve around its culture and history.

But I am open to anything.

Though it would be bonus points if anyone knows of any books revolving around the voodoo culture.
