Ante Meridiem

Early and Late lay hand in hand,
Surfing on tiredness and telly.
'Hello Ante Meridiem' they said,
As that crazy eyed interloper strolled wizenedly into the dim room,
'Evening Early, morning Late' he sneered,
'Had a good one?'

Early and Late looked at each other,
Shaking sad heads at each other.
They spoke in a tired unison,
'Not too good Ante Meridiem,
We're very tired and wish you to leave.'
Ante was angered and growled,
'I come not with whim or will,
I visit not for fun or frolics,
I tread here now with my own tiredness.
For every night I must rise,
Clamber to the tower and declare to the time-zone,
"Sleep thee well, it's morning by technicality"
So beckon me not gone,
This is my one home.'

Early and Late looked at each other once more,
'Then I must leave' spoke Late,
'Alas you must' whispered Early.
Ante Meridian sat and looked at its old friend Early,
Ante Meridian glanced goodbye to Late,
'Yes, this is our time now Early,
Kiss me now for soon the Sun shall rise,
And we all know what a joyous ******* he is.'
