You cannot be a Lit Net AWOL. You need to ask for permission to your superior officers, or the Feds will go after you with all they have

If you need a life, then get it here dear Jan!!!

Max, if you call me Jan one more time, I will bop you!:rage:
...although, Eyemaker insists on using that as my nickname; I've kind of overlooked that by now. My parents called me 'that name' when I was a kid and other choice cutsy nicknames, as well; I prompty threw 'Jan' off in junior high school. Anyway, I thought we agreed in the other thread, I was to be addressed from now on as 'Princess Janine'...

(On second thought, you already got it! :p )

Yes, I do exaggerate and I manage to have some bit of a life, asside from this site. In fact, on Friday night Lynne50 and I are going out to dinner and then you may see us; I am going back to her house to help her work out some things on her computer. Last night I babysat my grand-daughter - no time for computer then; she kept me running after her - she's an active toddler now...such fun!

 I think they will let me go AWOL for a short time, if I promise to return promptly, after a short break.....they know me by now and that I can't stay away too long. Yep...

Oops, apologies Princess Janine  I wasn't aware of the cutsy nickname you dislike so much. Can you overlook again? Remember I'm a first offender, so if you don't spare my life and send the royal executioner to punish me instead, your loyal subjects will say you are a tyrant....

Uh, huh! Gotcha! A clear abuse of power :p ....

I am sure it will better than tonight's fare - Wendy's! Do they have Wendy's in South America?
Hmm... If you are talking about the female given name "Wendy", the only "Wendy" I know (or can think of right now) is Wendy Crewson. If you are talking about something else called "Wendy", I'm afraid I don't know what that could be. If so, spare my ignorance please... explanation needed... :p
However, I don't think we have "Wendies" of any kind here... never heard of one :D

They already know me......that will give you something to think about....:goof:
So you are a special agent? How do you combine such a risky profession with your royal duties, uh? Do tell me!

I am here for now too, though my recent gaps were wheelchair and pc related, and if I vanish again it will likely be more of the same with medical add ons. I flipped over in my old manual in June by accident, rushing to desperately get less rank for Geek Squad, and it was ludicrous. I was tucked in the corner, squished on the cat cage, bent beneath the wheelchair, unable to snap the latch release of my seat belt, screaming and dehydrating. I thought I was going to die, but the guard became worried when I did not buzz Geek in, and I was no doubt spared worse, since she found me before dusk, but my strong side has bothered me since, and I may need an x-ray.

I am pushing too hard, and entered my first contest in three years, and I am zonked but damned if I am going to bed.

I am back (again). I downloaded a driver for my printer on the guidance of Dell support only to find that the driver for said printer was in Japanese! I know it sounds funny, and it is, but as a writer, nothing between the fall of 08 and now has been particularly amusing, and I can only hope, with some luck, for a small grace period of stability. Except: I like my Dell printer, and hope I can get it running on the Pavillon in English. I may post about it later, as maybe Admin or 1 of you can say "yes, this looks like the driver for your model..." and at least hold my hand online...

Virgil: The doctor poked and prodded, and I am getting mammogram, but Dr. Russel and his erstwhile students couldn't find anything to script me for, so I guess I'll live, though I am getting on a bit for my Super Cripple costume :)

Max: Thank you for the well wishes. You have a talent for community.

Jozanny, hope you get your printer woes straightened out soon; those can be such a pain. When I got my new computer, I installed my printer or actually Vista did it automatically. However, the scanner program was missing. I asked Claes and he helped find a forum where others were discussing, what to do with my particular 3-in-one HP printer to remedy the problem. I copied the instructions into my offline file. Needless to say, I put this off and procrastinated, as usual. I still have to completely reinstall the software and hope that will solve the problem of the scanner. Good luck to you. I would laugh at the Japanese but I guess you did not find it too funny at the time. I can understand why.

Postscript: Janine, I plugged it in and printed a test page, and for now, that is good enough! As long as I can create my hard copy, which I still need. I really am a semi-professional freelancer, but in 06 I had a burn injury, and had to put my cat down, like four months after my mother passed, and my comfort zone as a working writer suffered significant disruption, and I am slow on the rebound, and then when my landlord started renovations in 08, well, I utterly failed to imagine the ensuing nightmare, which I posted about more than once.

NOW, and only now, I have been so prevented from working that I want nothing but, so if my posts lapse a little, litnet knows why. I had mentioned to Drk that my next article pitch might be about the anxiety that computer dependence creates; when I am ready, anyone who'd feel comfortable being a source would be welcome.

Good luck with the scanner!

Sorry about all your setbacks - believe me when I say I know somewhat how that can be and how roads don't always take us in the right direction...many interferences indeed.

Well, Jozanny, I would be a good candidate or source for your research and article. It's totally true that life probably was a darn site less complicated and less stressful without all these tech disturbances. I am always frustrated with something I can't get quite right, about my computer equipment or programs. By the way, did I mention I bought a cordless keyboard - the wave and still don't have that functioning with the computer and old mouse, which is not old and a cordless, too. I may have to start from scratch and install the mouse that came with the new keyboard. I guess the keyboard is rejecting the old mouse or canceling it out. One can't do a lot of manuveuring without the curser. Currently the keyboard is back in the box awaiting a time I might have more patience and time on my hands. See what I mean, I think I would qualify well for your article research, don't you, Jozanny?

Hold on Lit Net, the dynamic duet has come to take over you

Oh heavens, oh me, oh my!....I have news for you bub; tonight this night-owl, night-shifter is hitting the sack earlier than normal. truly I am! But yes, 'dynamic duet' is a good one. I really like the sound of that....you so make me laugh, Max!

Thanks, Max. I am pretty excited. Her daddy just bought her a little tricycle and showed it to us today. Can't wait to see her try to ride it. Also, she is talking more now. She even says football; is that a riot?

I really am heading for the pillow; going to get comfy and watch a movie on my little Sony portable player...up close and personal...it will relax me before falling asleep.

Goodnight all and have fun evening or is it morning. think so!
