Okay, basically all you have to do is post the title of a movie, and the other person has to try to name the director.

Example:
Citizen Kane

Orson Welles

etc, etc, etc.

Okay, I'll start

Taxi Driver

Chantel Akerman (really hard to find her films)

Here's a hard one, but it certainly has some of the best filmmaking in the last ten years:

Wow

Never knew anybody had ever seen it.

L'enfant

OK, you found me out! I hadn't seen the film; I merely used my talent of research to search online and find the director.

So what happened the one I posted next?

Okay fine, I cheated. But good thing I did, because I watched the trailer and that looks like a really good film. Besides, I love jazz, as well as black-and-white.

It was directed by Damien Chazelle.

Have you seen it?

Okay, no more cheating this time. By anyone.
Consequences will be dire

Here's a hard one. . . . .maybe

The White Ribbon

I saw it at Tribeca and liked it, but I knew they wouldn't find a distributor for it so it made for a tough one. ;)

I have never even heard of The White Ribbon, lol, and I won't cheat so I hope someone can answer it.

I'm a jazz man myself and I really dug the film's music.

Do you like classic or contemporary?

NickAdams

I would love to hear good contemporary jazz, but I wouldn't know where to look. I'm a fan of most of Davis's recording, Coltrane, Monk, Hancock (Head Hunters), Reinhardt etc. Omar Rodriguez-Lopez it the closest I get to contemporary jazz.

Have any recommendations?

Nah, I'm old-school. Drummers today seem too obnoxious and loud.

I've always loved the old ragtime music from the 20's, Armstrong, Ellington and Miller, Davis, Coltrane and I especially like Mingus.

It's so amazing listening to Davis's live albums!

That's what I love about jazz: live albums aren't just standards played live, they are an interpretation of that moment. It would've been worth it to see these guys love multiple times, because it's never the same show twice.
