Today I tried to enter the page on Edgar Allan Poe. It said that the page was an attack site and was trying to install programs that stole personal information. What's the deal with that, exactly?

The same happens with Dante. It might be related to the software that has been stealing poems.

hmmm. Well then that's a bigger problem than I expected.

The two issues are unrelated... I think.
This site was victimized by an automated hacker attack a couple weeks ago. You know that day where the index page wasn't working? That was it.
I don't know how Google (it is google) is seeing the malware on the pages like the Dante page though, by my records that page was never infected, and as far as I can tell no public page was ever infected. They tried to infect the index page, and instead they broke it, and every other page they infected was old and not part of the current site programming (legacy files left on the server).
The only way they're related is if the arab site owner is also the hacker who initiated the attack.

Works fine for me. Still happening? It could have been while I was doing some work earlier, though I do not recall working on the index.

Now I can't get into the site at all.
I'm only able to get onto this forum site by finding another link through Google.

Excuse me if my paranoia is showing, :), but Chris, though I try not to get too attached to any one online community, if the Arabic site is being deliberately disruptive, that bothers me. But then again, legal options might be limited.
Still, I have never hatched any revenge plans over issues like account termination. I may sulk, or publish an essay, or what not, but my past emotionalism isn't important to the New York Times Company. I have commented on some articles in their blog community with no mention of my book forum snafu of old.
I mean, I am not saying I know what their motive is, I don't, but if they have one it is kind of childish, from where I sit. I hope there is a remedy available along the line, for what it is worth.

I fixed the problem, finally.
Figured out, it was the old server that was infected, not the new server, so every once in awhile if your ISP used the old DNS you got the old server.
No wonder I kept looking and looking and couldn't find anything on the new server.

What a pain in the proverbial butt. I mean, don't people have anything more constructive to do with their 'talent' in the computer avenue?
Anyhow, good job, Chris, for staying cool and getting things sorted out.
Three cheers for Admin

I have been some time away because my notebook crashed! (And I am beginning to feel like a used to be writer given what I have gone through since last October...) But reinstallation has so far gone smoothly, though I have not yet reinstalled my documents and all my website data, but my mercury is now behaving, and embittered cynic that I am, I am glad anyway that LN's kinks have vanished. Cool people.
