"Twisted" seems a good word for it, though I read it quite some time ago, and I consider it quite a bit more neglected as opposed to some of the other books McEwan has written, such as Atonement or The Good Son. The plot reads with a lot of simplicity and has an easy-to-follow flow, but the implied distances between, for example, strangers and spouses or natives and foreigners of a land, interested me quite a bit. The story has a lot of surprises, to say the least, which does not subtract from its flow, but you will encounter quite a ride, especially with things not detailed in the mediocre Hollywoodized film adaption. Let us know how it goes!
Happy reading! :D
