There are lessons to be learned
in every leaf, in the smiles
or frowns of every passerby.

Let none pass
without noticing them
then all of us shall be
students and teachers alike.

Well paced, short, and to the point as usual.

Love, that 1st stanza! Can I go quoting that to other people? I promise I won't post it to any other site.

I like this very much, but the poor leaf seems to get a little lost by way of the ending. Perhaps something more akin to the people who make the poem mean what it does.

A deep message in a few concise words.

As Samuel Taylor Coleridge would quote: "poetry, the best words in their best order".

The "poor leaf" will, alas, get short shrift in any poem of mine. In this case, the poem was inspired by a maple tree just across from the table at which I was seated, but having kindled the poem it did indeed get lost in the shuffle. Such an unregenerate urbanite am I that my leaves, trees, flowers, rivers &c. are the faces and figures of the biped mammalians I see in tables next to mine or on the streets.

This is the best thing you've written this month, methinks.

Only if we are a good observer. Detached from everything around us.
