Ego
by mazHur

stranded in a desert
dying with thirst
the man sees afar
waves of water
dying with thirst
the thirsty man
madly runs for it
finds nothing there
but scorching sand
the dying man
remains dying with thirst
the ghost of water
the mirage
vanishes
what's left is
the thirsty dying man
his only asset being
Thirst
unquenched like ego
stumbling against mirages
in the scorching burning
sand of life.

Mirages prevail
Desert prevails
Thirst prevails
If one of these changes
the whole scene changes
The Truth changes
and the dying thirsty man
gets some chance to live on
with lesser complaint
of the Ego.

These are really touching lines, and the poet penetrates deeper and deeper across echelons of meaning and as if he has seen truth in form. But truth is formless and what is seen is just an illusion.

The poet tries to gaze at life, at the inner part of life, but life has no inner or outer parts. And of course if we try to see the inside of life we across it like an onion, and peel off every layer but what remains of it is the sheer layer.
