Just pieces of my work for you to judge and critique as you please.

Missing

Everything’s failed so here I go
Pen and paper in hand
I look for inspiration
And I’m filled with it

Another Saturday night.
Another lonely night.
Missing from the parties,
Missing from life,
Just missing something,
Like a bird to the sky
Or a star lacking sparkle.
That’s what I’m missing

Socialising is easy,
within confined spaces,
However difficult otherwise.

Not for my family though
They defy this law my life lives by.
Parties, gatherings or nights out,
They’re all there

But me
I’m not
I’d be lucky to be invited
And because of that
I’m missing life,
Not existence which I wallow in.

I had my chance twice
Two periods in my life
To change things
But I missed them.
No, I ignored them.

A third chance is coming,
Some say three’s a charm
But I feel things won’t change.
A solitary seed blown from its pack,
Except I’m the wind that chose the path.

Most of this is rather prosaic and literal, without either music or imagery, but it rises to a poetic level with:

A solitary seed blown from its pack,
Except I’m the wind that chose the path.

where there is both music, in the slant-rhyme ("pack / path"), and imagery.
