Hello,
There are 3 quotes in Hungarian that I am trying to find the English equivalent of. All three come from Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Wisdom of the Sands (Citadelle), translated from French by Stuart Gilbert. I have searched the internet (and found some other quotes from the same book, but not the below 3). I do not have access to the book in English, and even if I did, I wouldn't know where to look for these quotes.
If you have read this book, do you know how Stuart Gilbert translated these from French?
My puny attempts:
- To create is to possibly miss a step in the dance. Or your chisel slips on stone. It’s not the fate of the gesture that counts.
- You will never win, as you are striving for perfection.
- As about a tree, you will learn nothing about man either if you tear apart its life in progress.
