Mademoiselle Olympe Bijou had the exquisite face with innocent eyes that Raphael found for his virgins ..... The Baron was seized in the taloned grip of sensuality like a hunter sighting his game. "And", Josepha whispered , "it's guaranteed mint-new".

Balzac : Cousin Bette.

Mr Howard drove me home out of the orchard.
I was twelve. He touched me under my skirt.
The apples spilled out under the seat
Gently bruising their soft velvet skins.
His wife would never know he drove
One-handed with me, my blouse open to the sun,
Or that as I had sat drinking my lemonade
At her table, I had wanted it to happen.

Freaking brilliant! An entire short story in miniature, and very apropos the defense I just made to Virgil re my own "Sometimes, Life".

You must - or should have - sat back after you'd completed that and to paraphrase Jack Horner, said: "What a bloody good poet am I!"

This is so beautifully understated for the content. And the apple metaphor is light as a feather. Well done!
