Happy Birthday! :)

An interview with MotherHubbard:

Why are we doing this interview thing?
Because I was asked and I don't usually miss an opportunity to yap on about myself.

Are you sure you want to do this?
I suppose so

Got milk?
Whenever I see this question I think about the years I spent nursing my children. I'm a former La Leche League leader and a current breastfeeding advocate. So, while I haven't “got milk” right now, I did for years and years. In fact, the number of years I spent breastfeeding were sufficient to reduce my risks of breast cancer by over 90%. We need a cure for breast cancer, but an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!

Who stole the cookie from the cookie jar?
I must admit that I'm guilty. I love cookies! I was doing good to get them in the jar before eating the all.

If you had a personal theme song what would it be?
Rejoice in the Lord Always

Are you male or female?
female

What makes you keep coming back?
I love the people. What I do on LitNet has changed a lot over the past couple of years. I enjoy the discussion and the blogs. I like to keep up with what is going on with everyone.

Are you happy with the way things are here?
Yes.

Which countries have you visited?
none

How do you like your home town?
I love my hometown. I still live here. It's not got just a ton of opportunities, but it's a great place to raise a family.

If you could live somewhere different, where would it be and why?
I live just where I want to live.

Do you have any pets?
I have a wonderful dog, Jojo, and a cat who's name changes. We also have chickens and rabbits, but we eat them so I wouldn't call them pets.

What makes you happy?
I'm always happy. Most days I feel my chest will burst with joy. I'm happy because I enjoy the experience of living and all of it's ups and downs. My husband and I have plans and we work to make these things happen. Sometimes unexpected things come up, but I find happiness in facing obstacles and learning from all that we go through.

What is mankind's biggest achievement, and its greatest downfall?
I don't know about the greatest achievement. We've done a lot of great stuff. Sometimes I'm a little pessimistic and think that these great accomplishments have been exploited to the detriment of the poor. I think selfishness and apathy are out greatest downfalls.

Do you feel comfortable in your walk with God?
Yes

Given the option, what animal would you choose to be?
Human

What were your favorite things to do the past? What about now?
I loved classical Ballet, but now I just love to watch.

What makes you feel great about yourself?
I feel pretty great about myself inspite of my shortcomings. I'm a good wife and mother. I work hard and I have either accomplished or am accomplishing what I've set out to do.

How did you meet your significant other?
We met at work. He was a police officer and I was a radio operator.

Who inspires you most?
I don't know about this. My children inspire me. My long term dreams are motivating.

What is the one thing you must do before you die?
I hope to live long enough to see my children grown. I'd like to hike the Appalachian trail.

If you had to teach something, what would you teach?
Secondary Special Education

What would you regret not fully doing, being or having in your life?
I would regret missing opportunities to be kind to others

What method do you cherish above all others, as means to improving your life?
Education and introspection

What is your role in an emergency situation: the 911 dialer, the person who runs to the scene to help, the video recorder, or the person too overcome by shock to do anything?
I'm the 911 operator. I'm great in a crisis.

What song is in your head at the moment?
Never Smile at a Crocodile
More specifically http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xpccsHyj-5I (the kids are watching the Muppet's)

Which book are you reading at the moment?
Cat on a Hot Tin Roof

The last book you finished reading?
Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy

What is your favorite quote?
Nothing discernable to the eye of the spirit is more brilliant or obscure than man; nothing is more formidible, complex, mysterious, and infinite. There is a prospect greater than the sea, and it is the sky; there is a prospect greater than the sky, and it is the human soul. Victor Hugo

What are you wearing at the moment?
a bath town draped over my front and some pajama pants. I have a very terrible sunburn and I don't' know when I'll be able to get dressed again.

Favorite poem?
Ted Kooser is my favorite poet right now. I don't know if I could pick a favorite poem.

First novel you remember reading on your own?
Old Yeller

What era do you find most of the books you read are from?
Probably Victorian era, but it's the social commentary that I love more than the era.

Favorite TV shows?
Masterpiece Theater- not the mysteries.

It's a long list and I would hate to leave anyone off

Last food did you have?
Pineapple cake

Last words you said out loud?
Take that back to the kitchen.

Last person you hugged/kissed?
10 year old daughter Chaney

What do you do (for a living) to be able to keep your LitNet addiction going? And are you happy with your chosen profession?
I'm a stay home mom and a full time student. I'm very happy with it.

Least favorite book/song/movie?
Twilight- I'm sick of hearing about it.

What was your very favorite moment in your life so far?
The past four years have been particularly happy for me. My third child was born at home and that was a pretty great moment.

What scares you?
Pedophiles, deep water, heights, men in drag, barking dogs, loosing my children...

Which book do you wish you had written?
To Kill a Mockingbird

Most and least favorite characters from books?
Jean Val Jean

What should you be doing at the moment instead of answering these questions?
slathering on aloe gel

Anything that you want to forget but you never can?
I was once very mean to someone I loved.

If you had to lose one of your senses, which would you choose and why?
taste

What’s the first thing you’ll do in an embarrassing situation?
laugh at myself

You did not sound hillbilly. A little crunchy granola-y (mother earthy) maybe but not hillbilly.

papayahed, I love that - "a little crunchy granola-y" :D....sort of like the old Neil Diamond song...not sure if that's the name of the song, but I recall the 'crunchy granola' part. I know hillbilly, when I hear it and no way were you that, MH!
