just curious what everyone's favorite places to read are.

personally i enjoy outdoors like in a nice park or the ocean in summer time because it is nice and quiet and also beautifuland peaceful natural surroundings. i also like my bedroom at night and maybe the living room on the couch during winter days or out back in the summer. i use to love reading in the bathtub a lot, but it was too complicated if i really wanted to keep reading page after page, haha.
but yeah,
what about you?
what are your favorite reading spots?

I like to read in my favorite chair in my favorite room. The sun bothers my eyes a little but if I can find some shade and a nice day I will read outside

I'll bite ...so how does this work exactly?

When I was younger I was only able to read in very quiet places, usually in bed. Now I find myself reading in odd places - like on the bus! I need all the time I can get to read so I've had to adapt. It usually depends on the book for me, if its something light you can more or less read anywhere with any amount of background noise. However - for example at the moment I'm reading Atlas Shrugged by A. Rand, hardly the thing to read on the bus with loud offensive music and old ladies nattering - also its heavy, my hand hurts, small hands....in conclusion cos as usual i've gone off on one - bed, comfy chair, garden, in the sun, cuddled up on sofa....

I sometimes like to read things when I'm in a place that looks like the setting described. For example, I read Wind in the Willows by the river. Beyond that, I read in my room or the huge study hall at school.

At the movies.

Hah, cool.

Pretty much anywhere. On a bus, in a restaurant, inside, outside, wherever, though I prefer to read in bed.

Being a college student, you are awarded only a few munites a day to indulge yourself in reading... so my best place is bus and anywhere near a good night lamp... ;)

My secret absolute favourite place to read is on the floor in the bathroom. I grew up in a large and very loud family and, while generally I loved the commotion, often the only quiet time I got was when I was locked in the bathoom, so I began to take my books along! The blissful memories I have of it mean that it's still my favourite spot. Unfortunately, it's now not a very practical location, but I still do occasionally indulge and curl up on the tiles.

in a dark orange chair my grandfather had next to a lamp my dad had... that is my favourite place but I can read anywere as long as nobody is calling me or demanding attention, in a noisy place or a quiet as long as I can focus.

I like to read in the place where I am comfortable, mostly in the bed with a good lamp, with a mild shine, for not to hurt your eyes. :)

My favorite place is a nice comfy chair, preferably outside. I can pretty much read anywhere except for places with crying/screaming kids. That is the only sound that will totally distract me.

Hahaha!
I should try that! Don't you get somewhat dizzy at times?
For now just in bed and in total silence (or else I get distracted)... tomorrow... we'll see.

STOP POSTING NON-SENSE.

Let a book of variations of poems be our view of nature of biological law behind the human's eyes toward the papers. Then, we should hang upside down on the ceiling, but reading Harry Potter novels will make you dizzy, and all of sudden you will fly up into space. But, Shakespeare does not tell us this - we CAN fly upon our minds to fly into the nature of literature, hence solved.

Maximilianus, if you are keep posting non-sense, please get out of here.

My post is nonsense uh?

If I am not falling into a severe blindness, the original idea of reading
suspended upside-down from the ceiling was Akeldama's and ALL I DID was to say that I would like to give it a try.

Did I say it in a too humorous way for your exquisite taste? Probably I did. In such case, SORRY SO MUCH FOR HAVING OFFENDED THAT EXQUISITE TASTE OF YOURS!!

I see people coming frequently to these forums in order to express themselves and I wouldn't offend any of them by saying, nor even thinking, that they post nonsense. I take what they post with respect, because it's WHAT THEY FEEL AT A PARTICULAR MOMENT AND NEED TO EXPRESS IT and I respect that. They post all kinds of comments everywhere and YOU call MY post nonsense? That should be told by a moderator. Until one of them fires me from here, I intend to stay whether you like it or not.

By the way, if my nonsense (AS YOU CALL IT) demands me to leave then everyone else's nonsense demands them to leave as well, unless you can think, with all your eloquence, of a better reason for me to be more undesirable than the rest.

I'm seeing happy faces laughing at whatever nonsense spread all over the forum (NONSENSE FOR YOU, NOT FOR ME). If coming here to have a good moment after a hard day is nonsense then I am nonsensical by all means, just because I'm trying to communicate the same way that everyone else does.

I would have expected aggression on some other sites but not on this one. Probably I should leave and probably none of us both is the most suitable to make such a decision...

My favorite place to is outdoors on a blanket in nice weather, but when the weather is not so nice, I prefer indoors in bed or a comfy chair.

Highly uncalled for statements. I can't see why you are attacking one person like this. I believe this is not allowed on this forum; so I would be careful when being so blunt and aggressive. I thought this was a friendly thread and can't believe this is going on in here.

As for me:
I like to read in the park on nice days; but I usually end up reading last thing in bed. I read a little each night; I can't seem to go to sleep now unless I read at least a few pages. I have to feel totally comfy and it has to be completely silent and quiet for me to concentrate.

Maybe our moderators are not still aware of this person's behaviour. On other threads this person's been telling people to "obey his/her rules". WHAT AN INSANE PIECE OF A REQUEST... FOR A FREE PLACE MADE UP OF FREE PEOPLE LIKE THIS FORUM! .... but I guess the uncalled for happens everywhere.

I did not say you have to get out of here dude, all I was trying to do was to try to help you understand the meaning of literature.

JWHooper is a troll with a secret formula. It goes like this: Let A of B of C behind D toward E be F of G. Almost musical; not quite. Hence his ridiculous grammar.

He also likes to hyphenate "nonsense," and he has a few other tricks. Not exactly a poodle, but not a Doberman either.

JWHooper, I find you mildly amusing, but personally I think you'd be more appreciated in your niche on 4chan. These people are opera-goers, not computer geeks. Filthy culture belongs in filthy places.

ktm5124, I do listen to opera. I have pretty good decent talent on music, and of course I am a huge computer fan. Quantum computers is a great subject to learn.

I generally need a bit of hustle and bustle going around me to be able to focus on my reading, so reading on the bus is great, so is reading with music in the background.
