new car/van

so although I don't know if this is really the right place for this, I'm trying to buy a station wagon or minivan right now for surfing and climbing trips up and down the west coast of the Americas... I'm thinking like a Honda Odyssey minivan, or a subaru or volvo wagon.. anyone have any recommendations or experience with these vehicles? :lol:

Probably not an appropriate topic for Lit Net...though if you planned to write about your climbing/surfing expeditions it might be.

Choice of vehicle comes down to: do you need 4WD off-road ability or not?

If you're going to more-or-less well paved trailheads, any good van, pickup, or station wagon will do. The vehicle just needs to hold your gear and passengers. If you want to go into the bush, you'll need a high-clearance 4WD, the tougher the better. If you're really going into the bush, you'll need to look into a good dirt bike or the old standby, a a pack animal.
