I may be setting myself up for a face plant by posting this, considering all the quality poetry on here, but i'll give it a shot.

There’s nothing like a platoon breakfast,
mealy-mouthy goodness,
to settle that crippled siren’s tune.

It digests like budding seedlings
during the flan-and-berry evening,
while the night stews where no one dare goes.

Then it tip-toes in,
with a dog-lipped grin,
and with one bludgeon it pounds with formal fury.

At least the breakfast was for champions,
with that good ol’ same ol’
rusty penny taste.

Here's another one. It's simple, but I sort of like it.

I guess I like its picket fence
And the borogroves across the way
It looks nothing like the ad, though
I think it’s seen better days

Those hedges could use some snipping, too
With a trusty store-bought vorpal blade
The garage door is bruised and weathered
With basketball beatings and donut crumb glaze

This isn’t for us, I surely know
We’ll depart and buy another home
But those people sure look sad
As we leave their home with a snicker-snack

Have you ever listened to the band At the Drive In? Your words resemble the style they use in creating their lyrics. I prefer the latter poem, its imagery is astounding and unique, but both are wonderful and I hope to see more from you!

Thanks. Nope, I've never listened to that band before. I'll check them out on youtube.
