Hi everyone,
I want to take your advise on which book to buy a person who is getting to the last terms of his/her life?Thats for sure we need a little empathy here.I can't decide if it should be something that keeps his mind away from death and meaning of life Or the opposite? The right book might be comforting,refreashing..I think it shouldn't be something depressing even if it's dealing with life or death.Considering the case,do you have any recommendations, especially which answers the description?
Any idea?

p.s:Thanks for your help in advance.

Something beautiful, Keats's poetry perhaps? Or possibly some gentle and easy prose, maybe something like Three Men in a Boat by Jerome Jerome.

I don't really know, these are just some things which sprang to mind first.

The Tibetan Book of the Dead immediately comes to mind. It's been guiding people through their last days for a very very long time.

Either way could be good. Distraction might be helpful, laughter is good medicine, and stories of others who dealt with similar situations, even those you might find depressing, could inspire and energize. I would bring two or three options and leave it to my friend to read one, all, or none as suited them.
