Mother Earth is ageing, and when ageing beings and particularly living beings need care. We are so mindless and tough on Mother Earth. She is ageing day and her limbs are weakening. We are callous, insensitive and uncaring to her fragile body. We thru our maniac tendency to consume, i.e. our predilection for sumptuousness is keeping us in abeyance. We know temperature is rising. We are gambling with the future generation putting their lives at risk. We thick-skinned humans want to gobble everything that comes to us. I am really despaired of the way we all are getting consumptives, for we have producing contaminants and toxicants at a very alarming rate and if this gallops at the same pace, our kismet will be at bay.
Thins mindless consumption or profligacy keeps on increasing our earth will turn out to be an unlivable planet. Already ecologists and environmentalists the world over are admonishing that the earth will hotter by more than 9 % and maybe by more degree if we do not change our attitude.
We are more concerned about our luxuries and less about the earth’ sustainability. In Nepal all I observe is we all are collectively contributing to the damaging the planet. In the name of land development and urbanization we are deforesting all our jungles, and our land developers keep on leveling, hilltops, plateaus to change landscapes for settlements. This has resulted in the drying up of our rivers and streams, springs and cascades. Now there is less rainfalls, and farmers are facing deadly draughts.
This forum is a literature forum, yet I do not think literature or literary articles are not related to environmental issues.
Mother Earth is getting older. She is disfigured and mutilated now. My poetic mind is tormented by this fact and could not help putting the feeling into these words.

I don't think victimizing 'mother Earth' is a very good approach. Mother Earth can fend for herself -- she did before we came along -- and we are just scabs on her backside. Mother Earth is not fragile, but she is stubborn, and she knows that raising temperatures and spreading diseases will get us pesky humans out of here.
So instead of consoling and nurturing mother Earth, feeling bad for her, let's sit down and make a deal with her instead of treating her like a child. Realistic problems call for realistic measures. We can sit and mull about how much our consumerist lifestyles are harmful to the environment, and how we should abandon our cars and houses and live in the woods, but none of those things, as long as we're here, are going away. Renewable energy, stricter environmental laws and general common sense will help us stay here longer. Another ice age is going to come eventually, and by the time that happens we'll have found a way to colonize other planets or blow ourselves up with bombs. I'm rooting for the former, but the latter is always possible.

Mother earth is used to kill off hypertrophing populations, I think we should complain at the cosmic youth welfare office about her style of treating her children.

I agree entirely with you, mother earth is a woman that gave birth to all women and men and all that is found in her house, she cares for all as a mother does none of her offspring can bring her down, all are subject to her including the activities that take place therein for she allows her seed to do whatever they can think of. all are innocent before mother earth, she needs not our concern on her well being because all is under her control.
