I give little notice to my life in the past,
Moving on fresh to find a love that will last.
Free to explore a world not of my own,
I smile as I think, how much I have grown.
Hard forgotten, impossibly restored...
another broken heart I can ill afford.
Dreams and targets, drastically changed,
My life and my goals, shattered - rearranged.
The darkness of night, suddenly lit by a light,
My heart starts a blaze as my soul takes flight.
Name changed but remembering loves taste,
I find it hard not to believe, the love was a waste.
Now I see why it had to come to an end,
The love for her was wrong to send...
She was not the one so it could never be,
We failed too many times and now I am free.
I do not blame her for how it played out,
For far too long I carried a doubt...
I knew it was only a matter of time,
Until the day came that she was not mine.
In my new life the taste of love remains,
But I no longer feel the kisses, whenever it rains.
The love I taste is not the sour love I had,
No suspicious thoughts or things driving me mad.
This feeling is pure and fresh, keeps me awake at night...
Wild and free; a blaze that makes my heart ignite.
I pray my heart doesn't face the same fate,
But it's not what I worry about when I stay up so late.
For as long as you want me I will keep my vow,
It's not a promise made, to keep just for now.
I will not stray or break a promise I make,
Never lie or cheat, I've put my heart at stake.
These words are true, I mean what I say,
Keep your promise to me, forever I stay.
No longer is my life filled with a doubt,
My life has light again, since you've been about.

I wrote this a few years ago, but I wished to share it anyway. Hope you enjoyed the small read. Maybe in time I will share the true story behind this poem... with those interested.
