I am going to keep adding to this thread some small pieces of poetry as i write them. Just whatever comes to me as i sit by the window or lie in bed. Please comment freely...
Walking down this gentle granite slope
slow green verges reclining in the morning heat
The quiet patter of your rubber soles
does not disturb the birds
or the rhythm of the workers, groggily rising for their day shift

Sprawled neatly in creased shirt above the covers
thinking of Buddha and green tea
watching the dust float in thick air
slowly descending through invisible particles
Light can make them glow with a ferocity like fireflys
or embers

There must be one point in endless monstrous time one point of harmony eternal harmony where everybody at the same moment feels peace

My beautiful countryside hills grass endless harmony
condemned to evanescence
With industry can we wipe out weather, too?

These remind me of Mark Strand's Sargentville Notebook.
The first is my favorite because of the textures and sounds you bring together and the wonderful downward movement of "gentle granite slopes."

On visiting the imperial war museum:
Every time i close my eyes i see naked skeletal jewish woman thrown ten foot into her grave

It breaks my heart
to leave the dog
alone in the hall at night
to sleep and pass the slow hours
with no depth of thought
to occupy the lost space in her world

Inspired by Paperleaves' poem 'pre-meditation'.....
Nothing, nothing
sat in this vast open field
just breathing and focusing and nothing else
calm waves of existence flow over and thru me with each inhalation
with each exhalation i push them out

Your last three entries have all moved me, most especially about leaving your dog in the hall...

O the alacrity of children playing on the street
while i sit on this bench in perfect stillness
I am thinking of expanding this one into a larger poem. I am waiting for the inspiration to continue.....

These are sweet, I like how you capture the monotonous moments of the everyday. In the quiet moments, we can find such wonderful beauty.

Irony and a Little Innocence:
A small child wandering through the graveyard
observing the grass and the senseless butterfly

Very nice economy of contrasts, BT.

Polka-dot girl pedalling a bicycle by the side of the road
You remind me of the '40s and your hair reminds me of the sea
