This is new member Gerald Albers. I am 75, the son of Eric, a Lutheran musican, and Marie, the daughter of a Lutheran Pastor. I have been husband to Jean for 56 years, we have 2 fine sons, 2 beautiful granddaughters and a irrepressible grandson.

I served in the Navy, graduated from UW, retired from GM (engineering in aero-space and automotive electronics, and corporate finance) and taught part time at IU.

I love 3 things besides my family - Bach, Shakespeare and running.

I hope to find conversation about my belove'd Will

Dear Gerald
You have got 10 years on a 65 year old Englishman, but it appears we both appreciate Shakespeare. How do you manage with 16th Century English? As a child being suckled on this milk, it was still like a foreign language e.g:
1. Hamlet:
"When he himself might his quietus"
"With a bare bodkin?"
"Who would fardels bear."
"To grunt and sweat under a weary life".
2. Hamlet:
" Let the galled jade wince,"
" Our withers are unwrung".
Best regards
Manichaean.

Gerald,

Welcome aboard.
I am new to this myself.
The "engineering in aero space" caught my eye. I am the proud son of a P-38 Lightning pilot (now deceased).

In regards to Shakespeare, I'm afraid I am not that well metered. However my library does include an 1898 publication from Eclectic English Classics - "Julius Ceaser" and The Lake English Classics - "Hamlet" copyright 1903. Both books were discovered in my Grandfather's WW I footlocker. If for nothing else, I appreciate the musty aroma of the pages.
