An interview with Amanda Isabel:

Why are we doing this interview thing?
Because I received a PM asking if it was okay, and it is. :)

Are you sure you want to do this?
I don't think there's anything incriminating here, so... I don't see why not.

Got milk?
Not at the moment.

Who stole the cookie from the cookie jar?

*burp*
*wide innocent smile*

If you had a personal theme song what would it be?

That's tough. I like a lot of songs and they change from time to time, so I can't give one.

Are you male or female?
Female says the name and the closet.

What makes you keep coming back?
to LitNet?
Honestly, no idea.
:D

Are you happy with the way things are here?
Yes

Which countries have you visited?
I've been to the States, Florida specifically. Been to some parts of the Philippines too, but there's still a lot of island left :)

How do you like your home town?
I love it! It's a small city that has a lot going on so a short walk will take you many places.

If you could live somewhere different, where would it be and why?
I'd like to experience living underwater.

Do you have any pets?
Enough for a zoo, I think. We have dogs Chubby and her son Bantay (Filipino for 'guard'). Turtles stay in a basin in the bathroom. Fish in bowls.

Along the way we used to have lobsters, hamsters, more fish, and birds.

What makes you happy?
That's a long list! Food in general-I love it when my mom cooks and bakes. Strawberry ice cream has a special effect. I love little surprises.

What is mankind's biggest achievement, and its greatest downfall?
Edibles and everything we do with it.
Greatest downfall: I avoid tape measures and weighing scales at all costs and I KNOW I'M NOT ALONE.

Do you feel comfortable in your walk with God/atheism?
Yes.
Religion (organized religion, to be exact) is so commonplace around here it's almost expected. For a while I stayed away from all that organized religion but quite recently life has given me its share of the unexpected and unexplainable. I still stay away from organized religion but I'm walking with God again, taking it slow.

Which actor should play you in a movie based on your life?
I never really thought of my life as a movie.. but when I was younger I had this idea that the people we watched on tv could watch us from a tv too.
I would prefer my life in snapshots...maybe a sitcom?
The actor.. will be whoever makes it through audition and casting :)

Given the option, what animal would you choose to be?

What were your favorite things to do the past? What about now?
I don't really think my favorite things to do list has changed. I still love to read, write, surf the internet, and talk with friends (in person, over food, over the phone...), and i like daydreaming :) I like walking through the city, alone or in the company of friends.
one tiny addition though--i like watching tv series on DVD, sitting down and watching several episodes, one after the other. And I started liking roller-coasters about a year ago.

What makes you feel great about yourself?
I feel great about myself when I'm able to do something for people who mean a lot to me... and, brownie points for when they do little things for me too.

How did you meet your significant other?
I don't have one. Still waiting. Platonic love seems to be on my tail most of the time.

Who inspires you most?
My parents, mostly.

What are you naturally good at? (Skills, abilities, gifts etc.)
Talking. I'm so good I can sometimes be a bad influence :))
I've also been writing poems since I can remember...except back then I thought it was normal.
I sing, and I can dance, but I didn't build my evil empire on those things.

What is the one thing you must do before you die?
Our favorite activity ;)
I'm not in a rush, but I do want to experience it sometime and see what all the fanfare is about.
But like the fanfare says, I want it to be perfect. (Too much of a romantic? Maybe.)

If you had to teach something, what would you teach?
History, Political Science, Law, or something involving Language.
*Actually, I'm trying to escape that destiny.

What would you regret not fully doing, being or having in your life?
I would regret not letting a person dear to me know how important he or she might be to me... I hope never to experience that kind of regret.

What method do you cherish above all others, as means to improving your life?
Making friends, being friends, and calling them at three in the morning :)

What is your role in an emergency situation: the 911 dialer, the person who runs to the scene to help, the video recorder, or the person too overcome by shock to do anything?
I would be the 911 dialer who is doing things mechanically because I would be shielding myself from the shock. I would also be the screamer (who also curses like a sailor) if the accident took place in front of my very eyes.

What one thing would you NEED to have on a deserted island if you didn't have to worry over food and water?
Is 'another human being' a valid answer?
Talking is my sanity and another human being would really help. Of course, I could always talk to a coconut. (Coconut to coconut.)

What song is in your head at the moment?
Seven Things, Miley Cyrus.Tsk.

Which book are you reading at the moment?
I'm not reading anything at the moment. I recently finished The Art of Happiness and Demian. I think I'll start reading Persuasion or Great Expectations next.

The last book you finished reading?
(see above :) )

What is your favourite quote?
I can't say I have one. I like going through quotes and sometimes making some (though they probably only make sense to me).

The last one I had in my head was You're not alone. You've had a lover under your bed since you were five.

Favorite food?/ Comfort food?
My mom cooks really well so it's hard to have a favorite, plus comfort food really depends on what I'm feeling or craving at the time. Dessert-y stuff is always good, sour fruits and sour candy, and after a long or exceptionally cold day stews are good, barbecue on random weekends and pizza with friends. (Food is gooooood!)

What time of day do you most often find yourself on the LitNet?
Around three pm, or in the dead of night, when everyone in this and nearby time zones are asleep.

What are you wearing at the moment?
Pajamas!

Favorite poem?

First novel you remember reading on your own?
Hmm.. I remember reading this relatively long (for me, then) story on kids who travelled with their toys... I think its title was The Magic Storybook.
If that doesn't count, would Roald Dahl books count? :)
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Oompa-Loompas :)

What era do you find most of the books you read are from?

Favorite TV shows?

Which LitNet members would you like to meet in person if you could?
Papayahed
Kathycf
Beautifull
Claes
ShoutGrace
PrinceMyshkin

Favorite post on the Forum?

Favorite thread?

Last food did you have?
Dinner: stir-fried pork, boiled bamboo shoots with saluyot ---->(green leafy vegetable), rice, and a banana to finish it off.

Last words you said out loud?
"Yeah." (response to my brother.."this guy looks like the vocalist of The Script")

Last person you hugged/kissed?
My mom.
If Pox counts, Pox.
(Pox is a teddy bear we all treat like a baby that doesn't grow up. We're all kids after all!)

What do you do (for a living) to be able to keep your LitNet addiction going? And are you happy with your chosen profession?
I'm a college student... so my parents keep my addiction going. :)
(I love being a kid!)

As for profession, well, I want to take up law. I'm still working on my pre-law though.

What question would you like to ask yourself?
"Do you know how many calories you just downed in the last fifteen minutes?"
I'd like to ask myself that when I can give a decent answer :)

What would you like to be if you could change your profession?
An alternative to law....: I'd still want to be in theater. I was part of a special program for theater in high school and, before I was even sure about law, I was already sure I would love to do theater for the rest of my life.

Least favorite book/song/movie?

The most generous thing you have done?
I don't really know.
But I believe that being on the other end of that generosity is a form of generosity also, in the sense that you allow the other person to give.
:D

What was your very favorite moment in your life so far?
Can't pick one.
I have moments of epiphany... like knowing how a story is supposed to end, a script is supposed to be written, what degree program I'm shifting to, or realizing I'm ready to feel things again.

What scares you?
Snakes.
Pythons in particular.
I don't like seeing them (which is why I used to either cry through or stay way from the reptile section in zoos as a kid... now I just stay away) and I especially hate it when I dream about them. (I'm thankful I don't dream about them too often.)

What is your most outstanding feature?
Physically, I've got strong features so I really can't say.. I don't love everything but I just try to do what I can so I don't end up looking like the circus is after me.

If you could change one thing about the way you look, what would that be?
I'd like a more manageable head of hair! Funny thing about it is I had pin-straight hair as a kid. When I was eleven I had it ciut and it came out curly! It's been weird ever since...some parts are straight, some parts curl that way and some curl the other way. I hardly know what to do with it! (Of course, I figure the hair is just as hard-headed as the head it's on..)

If I can't have that, I'd just ask to be taller. Six inches would be generous.

Which book do you wish you had written?
Pride and Prejudice. But I can't very well take credit for that now, can I?

What is your favorite book cover?
The cover of Girl With A Pearl Earring.

Most and least favorite characters from books?
Favorites include Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy, and Fantine (Les Miserables). Least favorites include Raoul de Chagny (Phantom of the Opera) and Bella Swan (Twilight).

What would your biography be titled? Most of my poems don't have titles because I can't even think of them, so a title for a biography seems a bit out of my league.

What should you be doing at the moment instead of answering these questions?
Sleeping... But I can do that later.

Why the airplane window shields need to be lifted up during take off and landing?
So people get to see what's outside!

If you could only rescue one item from your burning house, what would it be, and why?
Pox, the teddy bear I wrote about earlier. He keeps all of us sane... (which is a bit questionable if you consider the fact that it's a stuffed toy that keeps us sane and functioning..)

Wonderful Superman or depressing Batman?
Neither.

The most embarrassing moment in your life?
Gosh there are plenty.
I think the most embarrassing moment in my life was about 15 minutes and 2 days long. I was at a workshop (for theater, during my freshman year in high school) and I couldn't get the steps to this weird dance. I took it out on my teacher and yelled, ended up crying, and not being able to stop. (*bad timing.)Things were awkward from there and I was the fool. (I flinched through the following months each time it was mentioned.):bawling:

Which literary character (s) have you been told to resemble the most?
Adolf Hitler

List some of the things that annoy you immensely.
My brother. That's a lot.
Unclear DVDs.
Indecisive people in the middle of a difficult situation
Allusion to my embarrassing moments
:D

Anything that you want to forget but you never can?
My embarrassing moments. (Actually, I wouldn't mind remembering as long as everyone else forgot.)
My name. :crash:

Tell us about some amusing translation mistake you have heard or made yourself.
We call Pox "Baleng" sometimes. Baleng is a combination of Balong (an Ilocano term of endearment for a younger male) and Naneng/Naning (an Ilocano / Tagalog term of enderment for a younger female). I forgot to mention that Pox is asexual.
Anyway, I was telling my grandmother about it and she says "Ambaleng!" which refers to the smell of pee in Pangasinense, another local language.

If you had to lose one of your senses, which would you choose and why?
I'd prefer to be mute. I'll find ways to keep myself sane without talking. Besides, I've already talked plenty enough.

What’s the first thing you’ll do in an embarrassing situation?
Asses if I should laugh it off or cover it up.

Are you mostly happy with life or are you still in pursuit?
Mostly happy.

What gives your life meaning?
Laughter!

What type of Faerie would you like to be and why?

What makes you laugh?
slip-ups (mine, and others'), off-color jokes, spoofs, and witty responses :p

What was the happiest period of your life and why?
Happiest was the year I was fifteen.. Everything seemed perfect, or within reach...
Of course then-perfection is rather shallow now, but I was so happy and I was the perfect age for everything that happened. Naturally sixteen happened, even if I didn't want it to!

I think euphoric strawberry ice cream moments count for something too.

Do those animated smilies ever get tired? Think of them day after day, dancing or crashing computers or laughing or crying till the end of time...
They don't. They take breaks when no one's looking...

What part of “Final” don’t you understand?
The "Final" part!

One final word of wisdom for LitNet users?
Breathe.

What would you like to ask to the person to be interviewed after you?
"What happened to the turnip question?"
