I love this book! I found it very freaky in some parts and it's one of these that kept me hooked throughout! The ending, I'm not sure about, I kind of knew what was going to happen, but I still found it a shock! A great ending though! I think this is amazing. What are your thoughts?

I read that book probably 7 years ago, and I know that I loved it. I was just thinking lately to read it again, and to see how I would feel about it today. I cannot even tell for sure what the ending was.... :brickwall ..that is how far ago it was...but now that I think about it..I am probably really going to read it again...

I saw this in the library the other day and almost checked it out, but there was no description. Wanna give a bit of a run-down? I could look it up online, but I prefer it straight from someone not trying to sell it to me, lol.

This chick (maid I think) meets this rich guy and he marries her and takes her to his estate: Manderlay. The rich man was previously married and his first wife died under strange circumstances, which the new chick didn't know about. Then weirdness ensues

This is in my 'to read' list as well. Maybe we can read it with the Book Club, papaya... ie if someone nominates it ;)

One of my favorite authors. Ms. DuMaurier's Jamaica Inn is also a great read.

Ill nominate it I started to read it last year but I was at schoool so instead of starting I read the introduction BIG MISTAKE it totally spoiled the book for me. I mean I dont mind reading the last page before the first and knowing the ending but I hate knowing how people get to the ending (the story itself) and the stupid intro told me that so I just couldnt be bothered to read it!!
But Im going to try again!
The only book I ever read by DD (I really can not spell her name :D) was the loving Spirit which I read about 3 years ago now maybe closer to 4. as I remember it was kkinda freaky but intresting actually all I remeber was it was a book I enjoyed oh and some passages have stuck with me!

Rebecca is one of my favourite novels. IMO Daphne DuMaurier is a very under rated author. Another good read of hers is "The Birds". The movie does not do it justice at all.

I tried my hardest to get into "My cousin Rachel" but really couldn't!

*blinks* There's also a novel by DuMaurier called 'My cousin Rachel'? And I though it was a crap translation of 'Rebecca'... confusing, hehe
