no cage

looking down in shallow water
feet immersed among fishes
i can see the depths below it
this cold blue all but dark
swirling black silhouette fish
cool trails brush, encircling
water patterns on my skin
submerge myself to look further
look for sharks

blood seeping from glands
brings memories of past dreams
and visions of those same sharks
tearing to shreds
