I posted my question in another section of the forum but realized most would not see it.
My question is what does the quote "no man is an island." mean, apart from the obvious. (no man is alone in his living of his life)
I am writing a HS paper on it and really I do not have enough insight on the quote to build a 2 page essay.
Thank you in advance

I don't want to help too much, because you'd probably have trouble following any paths I might suggest, I might change my mind later, etc. But here's an idea: Think of maybe 2 or 3 important ways that "no man is alone in his living of his life," and spend a paragraph giving examples and discussing a bit for each way. That is, make sure that each of the important ways are described in a pretty general, basic way that allows you provide more specific examples for each.

For example, if it were an essay about how technology helps us, you could use "communication is easier" as one way technology helps us, and then provide examples (using pens, phones, email, etc.). That could be a paragraph.

If you find this is difficult for the essay about "no man is an island," you can work backwards (or maybe this is actually the normal way for most of us... :)) and think of (maybe like 6 or 7) specific examples of how people aren't alone in living their life, and THEN look for ways to group those examples together according to 2 or 3 general 'themes'.

BTW, I think 2 pages might go pretty fast once you get started... ;)

Two pages is cake, and I would assume since it's July, you've already finished the paper. But first discuss what it means to be an island. The island is surrounded by water. Is the quote saying we are never completely surrounded by something? Even if it feels that way. Question the quote, it will make for a stronger paper if you can break down the quote and make the author of the quote seem silly. Then, introduce a more serious topic and what you think it really means, that way you get the perspective, that maybe this quote isn't very good, then shut that idea down. That'd be my idea. If it's already done, I hope you did well, if it's not, good luck.

What has this got to do with the topic in question?
