Hello I am Yvonne, or Bon as most people call me :)

I have always liked reading... something to do with growing up in the countryside and having nothing else to do! hehe. I love escaping to a different world.. somewhere that is impossible or in the past or far away :)

I don't read as much as I would like to recently, but I am still interested and keep up to date with books.

I like Orwell, although have had to take a break from his writing for a while as it makes me very emotional about the state of the world!! I like Edgar Allen Poe too :)

I do read a wide range... I like books that make me think... but I also go for easy reading romantic ones... and lots of non-fiction books too. I like historical novels as well and have read a lot set in the court of Henry 8th.

I enjoyed Time Travellers Wife by Audrey Niffenegger, which was the most recent book I read. Currently I am reading The Shadow In The Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón.

I don't like writing my own work though... I would be useless at it! and I just don't understand poetry :S I hope to learn more about interesting books on here and talk to people about their opinions and favourites :) Am looking forward to chatting to people on here :)

Have a good day :)

Hello Yvonne Bon :D

Give it a chance and maybe you can get to like what you write. It doesn't happen from dusk to dawn but with a little commitment maybe... ;)

and I just don't understand poetry :S
Nobody does actually. ;)
What I mean is that different people perceive the same piece in different ways, so there's no way to have a single, accepted and generalized understanding of poetry. I believe that the most important understanding you can achieve is the meaning you give to a piece of writing; what you find in it related to yourself and how it affects you. The rest, like metre, rhyme, metaphors and so on are beautifying tools to provide the poem with elegance but the most important aspect is its inner meaning.

I hope you enjoy this lovely site and I hope we can talk often. You have a good day too :)

Welcome, Bon! You should definitely try writing your own work! It's not as hard as you might think; sometimes, the blank page can just be intimidating :) Well, it was nice meeting you; I'm sure you'll enjoy the site. :)
