We all see shapes in everything
Turn my jigsaw piece upside down
Or reverse its position
And I’ll still see my country,
My state, maybe even my town.

I can tell France and Italy no matter
How you present their outlines.
I can name that squiggly mark
That is the River Thames (aka Isis)
An electrical wave, a heartbeat.

I move across the contours
Of your body through my mind
Each soft delicate turn
And each summit, depth, plateau,
That lingers in my thoughts.
Surfaces are beautiful,
They create an esoteric mystery,
Encompassing what is unseen.

Clothes, coverings, they hide and yet reveal
They fall upon our bodies
Like dew upon the earth.
My hands traced the softnesses,
The delicate feeling of textures,
Fibres and smooth silky composites,
Given form by your inspiring body

We all identify with borders or boundaries,
The threshold between this and that
We traverse the passage in between
And travel to new places, fresh shapes.

There are hills, downs, mountains
Whose trysts with river and sky
Are instantly identifiable crossroads
Pictured in the inner eye.

Were we born to see faces, designs, patterns?
We all see shapes in everything.
Sculptured clouds float forever onwards
In never-ending mutability.
Like the shape of our lives,
The fractals of our loves.
