Hello everyone. I like to write poetry occasionally when the spirit moves me but I'm not sure if I'm good or not. I can handle plenty of criticism so don't worry about being too harsh. Here's a quick little ditty I came up with recently.

My pedantic prose
Is merely a ruse
To disguise the lack
Of intellect profuse

Well, I too am attracted to the writing of short, epigrammatic poems, and this one is a fine example!

Hi there and thanks for the kind words. I'm going to hold off on sharing the poems that are closest to my heart for a while and instead share those that I've written most recently. Here's something I've just started experimenting with for rhyming, rhythm, alliteration, and other purposes. Am I on to something here? Or should I scrap it and head in another direction. I can't decide:

Memories are necessities
Inconvenient monstrosities
Melancholic absurdities
And time-worn antiquities

Memories are beauteous
Fragrantly melodious
Frequently homogeneous
Not always indigenous

I didn't care a heck of a lot for either of these, which didn't seem to have much to offer beyond your ability to find rhymes for esoteric words. End-line rhymes can become a trap or a species of games.

Ok, thanks for the feedback! You're right that's all they are really. Not much feeling or meaning in them. I just like the way they sound.

Here's the kind of thing I've mostly been writing lately. Whimsical and fun stuff. Nothing too heavy.

Morning

Shining its light on the lightless night
The Sun gave the world a sigh
The sleeping ones knew that the light was true
And bid their dreams good-bye

The time between the sleep serene
And wakefulness sublime
The sun and moon hum a tune
To pass away the time
