I would rather [fill in the blank] than wait
and indeed I have been [fill in the blank]ing
for much of my life
but [fill in the blank]ing has, after all,
just been waiting
by some other name.

I can see myself as the speaker of this poem. This short poem contains the respective philosophies of both Samuel Beckett and Woody ("Ninety percent of life is just showing up") Allen in a nutshell. By the by, have you ever read "I Am Waiting" by Lawrence Ferlinghetti? You'd appreciate that one methinks.

Yes that poem is brilliant, it is where my quote comes from.
This poem by Prince is also fabulous. It is more open to interpretation than most other poems.

No, I haven't read the Ferlinghetti poem but I did just read a vivid account of the history of "Godot" in the USA by the son of the man who was the first US Estragons, and one of my favourite goofs.
Do you think there's any potential in a take-off on Pete's "Where have all the flowers gone?" with "goofies" in place of "flowers"?
