I am female, european, inconspicuously aged and shaped, and my secret passion is the wish not to be considered eccentric, exalted, weird, strange, kooky, loony, loopy, insane, bizarre, natty, potty, queer, quirky, wacky, barmy, batty, buggy, crazy, daffy, gonzo, screwy or even a wit. Well, I don't want to boast, but I surely achieved a certain proficiency in being boring, mainly by keeping geraniums, quoting Kant and collecting wrapping paper in relatively few shades of rather averaged brownness, grayness and oliveness. These, as I hope, civic and peaceful activities fill my heart with gratification and a sense of security, but anyway I'm a little afraid that they still demonstrate too much vociferous and ostantatious maladjustment, so I decided to lower down the remaining unboringness of my existence by reading Proust and this other tedious guy, Joyce. Aside from this I’m here to improve my English. Amazing language, full of funny words. :D

As to reading Proust, I always that was a German Oktoberfest toast and that Joyce was somebody that English scholars read and quote so their students will never figure out what is really going on in their classes.
I am male, American, and old enough to be considered by most to be harmless. I am extremely fortunate in that my hobbies are the same as my major career paths--writing and teaching--with just enough gardening, flying, SCUBA diving, poker-playing, and academic research to keep people from figuring out what I might be doing next.
I am a writer (or so everyone believes) and have considered the English language to be my secret mistress and lover for over sixty years. We often spend our time amusing ourselves (and others) by converting very serious conversations into pun-key humor; and I enjoy your appropriate usage of the language to try to point out your (imagined) lack of fluency.
So, M'lady, would you care to dance?
