hey!
I am having a hard time finding an exciting topic for a project. I would like to concentrate on the era of romanticism but am finding it hard to decide on an author and his/her works .I was wondering if there are any short story authors whose work is based on romanticism?

also if I base my essay on the topic 'romanticism', I need to narrow the spectrum to a detailed topic possibly comparing the relationship of the characters or something of that sort.

I had an idea of maybe comparing specific works of a male and female writer of the same time and observing the subtle/open use of language indcating the sexual tension, passion etc. of the characters in their books.

a suggestion of authors that contrast in this manner or even 'off the top of your head' ideas will be greatly appreciated.

peace:alien:

Try Pushkin's tales, and the sketches by Turgenev.

Frankenstein was written through the mind of a man, but by the hand of a woman. Shelly romanticizes the male male relationship. Kind of funny.

Zen and the Art of Motorcycle MAintence is an examination of romantic and classic thought.

Most any Victorian work is romantic.

Oscar Wilde's De Profundis. It means out of the depths in lugata latin. It is a letter to his boyfriend. The homosexual relationship is what got him jail time. He is caught up by the excesses of his friend while ignoring the faults. Pure romaticism.

Anna Karenina broke my heart.

There is tons of good ****. Let me know what you decide, we can talk about it as you read.

And if you have your choice this is kind of a simple guide but

18th and 19th century Russian and English concentrates alot on romance and the Victorian way. 19th century american is about slavery, early 20th ameerican is about politics. Late 20th century and beyond american is crap. What other themes can you choose from? Weigh all your option. I'm working towards my master's so I got used to doing these. I tutor as well. If you need help let me know. Some of the people here are real bright as well, others are not.
